Paintings - an Introduction

Tasmanian Underwaterscapes explore unpeopled vistas of diverse Tasmanian waters, from high altitude mountain tarns to deep sea caves. These are aspects of our landscapes which are ususally hidden, unseen.

In the Submerged paintings, figures have descended to occupy these watery spaces. The settings are often familiar rivers, lakes or seas, but these spaces morph into the province of dreams and the subconscious. With deeper levels, the view becomes subjective, the response often preverbal.
