Exhibition: Pause Button

My artwork At the Turning of the Tide will be on show in the exhibition ‘Pause Button’ to be held at The Old Auction House, Kyneton, Victoria, from 3 December – 4 January 2021. The opening will be 2-4pm Saturday 5th December.

The exhibition and catalogue can also be viewed online.

For this exhibition, artists were supplied with a curated panel of 6 buttons, chosen for them by Art Aviso, which were to form the inspiration for a circular or spherical artwork. The buttons were purely the inspiration for the colour, texture and shape of the artwork, the subject matter was entirely up to the Artist.

The buttons I received were brown and had wavy lines on which reminded me of kelp, and the circular format suggested to me the movements of the tides, the cycles of life and the changing nature of the world.

Bull kelp thrives in the constant surging of the sea along Tasmania’s exposed rocky shores.
The kelp is not far beneath the surface, especially at low tide. Fronds swirl in and out of sight in an everchanging, mesmerising display.
